Happy Holidays!

Oxfam is a great way to make a huge difference for a lot of people with only a little money. They definitely know how to spread it around. And they have all kinds of presents. I want one of these:

Almost

The semester is almost over. There's about two weeks left in my student teaching. I can't believe it'll be over already. But at the same time, I can't wait.

Ah, to sleep past 6am. to not be so tired when I get home it's all I can do to make it into bed.

Deep Thought :-P

Deep Thought 10/23:

Hypothesis: God must be an atheist.

Point 1: We define god as the supreme being of the universe.

Point 2: Atheism is the lack of belief in a supreme being greater than yourself.

Busy busy busy

Life has gotten pretty busy lately. And I've been ignoring some things that I really shouldn't, like keeping in touch with people. Sorry about that.

Work is nuts. Since I'm away next week, I have to get everything done this week. So that means cramming a lot of work into a little bit of time. Not fun. Stephanie is out this week too so I don't even have someone to talk to.

Cleveland was great. I absolutely love going to the PEZ Conventions every year.
The weekend before that was all the parties and birthdays. Much fun was had by all I dare say.
It really was a great time. I think we needed that. I know I did anyway.

Now though, I have to unpack from Cleveland and then repack to go to Vegas. I'm leaving Friday afternoon, skipping out of work early :-) I need a vacation. This'll be good; nice and laid back cause it's just Vegas and not like ten other places too. So I should be able to chill a bit. Thank goodness.

48 hours and I'm on vacation.

Nothing much

Time goes by.......

It's already the middle of July. How did that happen?
We've been in the apartment for over a month now. I can't believe it's been that long already.
Work is good. Lots of money which will help since I can't really do much once school starts up again.
My car is finally back. That makes me very happy. Two weeks in the shop and it's as good as new. Which is good because it is new.
Cabaret is starting up. Proposals are coming in. Good for the theatre, not so incredible for us on the reading committee. It's a lot of script reading, which can be fun but can also be very tedious. And as the tech rep on the rc I have a lot of work to do checking out the prop/set descriptions people put in their proposals. And the theatre itself is a mess. The rain has been reeking havoc on our poor little space. The basement is in continuous flood stage, the roof has begun to leak again... So much for all those little projects I had wanted to get out of the way. Now instead I have to worry about all the stuff that's being ruined in the basement. Such is the life of a college theatre td i suppose. Anybody wanna keep me company?

Good times ahead though - lots of birthdays this weekend and seeing Pirates with Carolyn. Next weekend is the Pez Convention. And then it's Vegas with Mom & Dad from July 28 - Aug 5. Nice. So if you can't find me for a while, that'll be why.

So all in all, life is good. I'm still bored most of the time, and no one is heeding my cries for rescuing from said boredom (thanks a lot guys). Then again, I get home from work super tired (which is weird, cause it's a desk job) so I probably wouldn't be much fun anyway. Still, it would be nice to know more than the usual three people cared about my sanity, like maybe by calling or im-ing or leaving notes <<guilt guilt>>........

Okay, enough.
Later.

Class is over

My two summer courses are over. Now it's off to Nomadic Expeditions full time.
The last week of classes was crazy. I had a HUGE paper due that Tuesday. and I finished it at 4 am. And when I went to print it, my computer had a little fit and I lost it. I went from the 21 page final version back down to the 5 pages I had written the week before. Everything gone. I freaked out. Of course. And then I sat back down and wrote the whole thing again. Finished at 9 am, showered and headed off to class. That was insane. Not good times.
But now they're over. And I finally have my placement for student teaching. I'm at Old Bridge High School. Grades 9/10. Should be interesting.
We've started accepting proposals for the new season at Cabaret. We've gotten a few notes of interest, which is good. I just hope we get a lot more. Four is not enough, even if they all turn out to be acceptable proposals. Maintenance is doing some work in the building and pulling up some great old stuff from back in the day. There are all these pieces no one knew we had anymore. I'm really excited, but then again I am the one who they'll go to so of course I'm excited. Just like Ash would be excited if we discovered a whole room of great costumes. We still have a couple of places to fill at the theater, like props/costumes, marketing, and Electrician. I'm working on it. We really need to fill them. I have a couple of ideas for people to ask, but if anyone comes a long and is interested, I'll be more than happy to take them on.
On to the rest of life.... We finally have cable/internet/phone at the apartment. There are wires everywhere right now. Hopefully we can clean it up a bit, get some out of the way. I'm gonna look into upgrading my laptop to wireless. we'll see if it works.

Another Birthday came & went. Crazy. Carolyn & Megan came over to celebrate with me. We went to the Skylark Diner, which is amazing! It's such a cool place, and the food is great. Then Megan and I went out for the evening. It was great to finally get a chance to go out in New Brunswick with Megan. Especially with her leaving for Texas. We had a great time, and I'm really glad we got the chance to have one more night out.
And this past Thursday was the Matawan graduation. I went and hung out with Beadle on the field. It was actually pretty fun. So many of my old matawan friends had brothers and sisters graduating...Randy, Debby, Bev...so many last names I recognized. So I got to see a lot of people one more time before summer, though I didn't really get to talk to too many of them. But seeing them was nice. I did get to talk to Randy, which was great cause I hadn't in a long time; Jackie too. Parag was there with a friend. I got to talk to Kevin after he walked. Crupi was there, waiting for the party afterwards. So it turned out to be good times.

Well, now it's late and I've got work in the morning :-P so I've got to get some sleep.
Later.

long time....

It's been a long time. There was so much I wanted to write about, most of it sappy end-of-college stuff, or fun senior week stuff. But the moment has passed. Oh well. I dare say we'll all survive.
Now it's summer. I'm in the middle of summer classes. Two weeks down, two to go. Then I go to work full time. I'm working at Nomadic Expeditions. It's an adventure travel company, specializing in East Asia, specifically Mongolia. Yup. Mongolia. I'm an intern, aka office bitch. I stuff envelopes, answer calls, reply to emails, make copies, all that lovely intern stuff. I'm actually having a lot of fun though. We'll see if it stays that way when I start going full time.
The new apartment is good. It's a nice place. Utility companies are killing me. It took forever to get the gas turned on, and Cablevision messed up so we have to wait another week for cable/internet/phones. Bah. So it has it's problems but I'm having fun with it. We're having the inaugural party there this Friday (6/16). Should be good times. Everyone's welcome. Feel free to stop by.

So, birthday this week. Crazy. Don't know where that came from. We're going out Wednesday to celebrate. Call me if you wanna join ;-)

back to the homework.

April is almost over....Finally!

April has been a crazy roller-coaster. It started off so awesome with Hello Dolly @ Matawan. Then it got weird. Then it just went nuts. I had papers due, fell behind, caught up, got ahead, fell behind again.....all over the place. This last week has been insane. Accidents, mishaps, general malaise.... It has apparently been a crappy month for everyone. I absolutely can not wait for April to be over.

The Underpants went pretty well. The set was freaking awesome. The pieces from Beadle really helped make it look incredible. And the window kicked some serious ass. I definitely finished building the window at about 7:15 and it was painted by 7:30. The paint was probably still drying when the show started. But none of the costumes were ruined, and that's all that matters. Since there was only one coat of paint on it and it was with a brush you could still see some of the wood grain underneath the paint. It was a neat, though unintentional, effect. You could only see if it you really looked though. I spent so long on that window. But people actually noticed it. I got a lot of compliments on it, which was nice. Cause usually, in theater tech, when you do your job right, people shouldn't notice you. But they did notice in this case, and it was cool. Mom & Dad came to see it & brought Nani. We went advertising crazy. I think I sent out like 10 - 15 messages via different outlets about the show. We had decent turnouts every night, but no sellouts. Ah well. So Big Thanks to all the people who did make it out, and even to all the people who tried but couldn't. Knowing you tried to make the effort is just as great as if you had actually managed to get to the show.

I can't believe that April is almost over (thank goodness). I can't wait. I'm seriously considering going to the May Day celebrations in Princeton. They start at dawn I believe. V exciting. It'll be a good way to start off the new month and the last day of classes.
Oh my god - the last day of classes. The LAST DAY OF CLASSES!!!!! I'm almost a Grad student! This is crazy. I don't know if I can take it. Graduating. I just f*ing graduated from Matawan, and now I'm supposed to be graduating from Rutgers?? How did this happen? It seems so impossible.

Bah humbug. I've got observations in the morning, so I must off to bed. Last week of these too. weird.

too weird. all of it.

Basking in the afterglow

Another show over.
Another amazing experience.
Yet this one was so far beyond anything I've done lately.

Carolyn told me the other day that I've been "glowing" since I started HD. I think she's right. And it kicks ass.
It was a tight show. And I'm so happy I got to be a part of it.

Strike is Friday. That'll really be the end of HD. But not the end of the goodness. (Never-mind that I'm not making any sense and just go with it. I'm floating. What more do you need?)

Glengarry has finally opened...

(posting this one a little late...that's why the days are off. deal with it.)

It's been a rough couple of weeks. But enough about that already ;-)

This weekend has been great. Glengarry Glen Ross opened Thursday. We've done four shows so far and the guys have been absolutely amazing. I just wish we could get some bigger crowds in. These guys deserve to have everyone watching them, and Cabaret deserves the money and publicity. I've been having such a great time getting to know all of these guys better. They're definitely one of my favorite casts ever.
Last night Philippe had everyone over for the first cast party. I had a great time. I think everyone did. Well done 116-Louis-residents. So much fun. No details for you though. (Hi Mommy)
Anyway, even more fun to be had next weekend ;-)

Save Arts Education Funding!!

The President is trying to cut finding to the Arts in Education. What a loser.
Cutting Arts in Education is one of the worst mistakes we can make. Thousands of researchers have proven that children need the Arts in their schools to excell.
Any Teacher could tell you their children needed the Arts. Any Student could tell you they needed the Arts. Why can't politicians see that??

Snow Day

Yay :-)
Ash & I are snowed into Stonier. Such fun.
We just watched a group of guys snow wrestling outside my window. It was great. Ash saw them out the window and stood up to watch them. One of them picked up a snow shovel and started chucking snow at the rest of them. Then I got up to see what was going on. It was really funny to watch. Once they stopped the snow fight and started getting up, we both were kind of like, "Hm, that one looks familiar. Hey! We know all of those guys." So it got even funnier cause we actually knew who it was. I'll have to mention it casually the next time I see them and see how they react. Lol. I love my friends.

So the big news....
I have a NEW CAR!!!
very exciting...really makes me feel adult-y though... In the last month, I've been applying for internships/jobs, signed a lease on an apartment, and bought a car. That's ridiculous. Everything's really sinking in now. And it's scaring me a little bit. In two weeks, I'll be signing up for Graduate courses. Which, by the way, are getting in the way of everything. I can't apply for most internships because these are summer classes. I will yet again have to suffer through so many job applications being rejected because I have such limited hours. I might not even be able to do some of the work I was really looking forward to because of them. Bah humbug.

Okay, this is getting me down. And it's really late and I still have a ton of homework to finish.....
later.

New Semester...

::sigh::
And so we begin a brand new semester. Not even a full week in and I'm already going crazy. I have to make major decisions that quite frankly, I'm not ready to make. Before break I had to hand in my application for student teaching. Student Teaching!!! Already!! Can you believe that? I got a call last week from a landlord about an apartment. He's trying to be nice and give us first shot at the place, but it's January for heaven's sake! How are we supposed to decide now about housing for next year. Ash & I have to decide if we want the place, then try to get a third roommate in place. Which is in itself very crazy. So anyway, the three of us are gonna try to go check out the place this week, talk to the landlord, etc.
And, of course, I'm sick. It's January 22, and I've been sick twice already this year. That's horrible. It's starting to freak me out. I barely got sick at all in England, but now this school year, I've been sick so many times. Yeah, there's the stress thing, but I was stressed in England. Not as much, but it was there. And I probably ate worse there, and I was living with four other people so there had to be more germs flying around. Amount of sleep is probably the same. Most signs point towards sickness there. So what is it about this year that's making me get sick so much more often? grrr
Cabaret started tonight with the first staff meeting of the semester. It's nice to be back there, but I'm feeling a little hesitant about it. Once the show gets going I'm sure it'll be better. It was great to start seeing people again. Got to see some members that I hadn't seen since before break or since New Year's. And afterwards we went back to Melissa's with Parag, and even seeing just that little group was so great.
I miss people. I need a social life again.
I also need to finish my homework, so I'm stopping.
Night.
